WORCA RIDER DEVELOPMENT TEAM
ENDURO-FOCUS YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TEAM
For 2019, WORCA, in partnership with ZEP Racing, will be offering a WORCA Enduro Development Team focussed on skills and fitness training specifically targeting enduro riding and racing. The program will be open to up to 6 select youth residents aged 13-15, priority to those youth living in Whistler, that are strong local riders with a positive and coachable attitude.
All youth involved should be comfortable with all black diamond and double black diamond trails in the Whistler valley trail network, and have a level of fitness and mindset that supports long days of trail riding (up to 35-40km) by early summer.
Each youth will be required to have a WORCA annual membership.
Each youth invited should commit to racing a minimum of 2 (two) Enduro races in the 2019 riding season, with at least one ideally being a Canadian National Enduro Series race. Others may include races such as the Pemberton Enduro, Squamish (Gryphon) Enduro, Crankworx EWS 80, etc.
Each youth must purchase a Whistler Bike Park Twilight Pass - this will enable riders to have 3 hour bike park sessions as part of their training, at a rate substantially lower than a full Park Pass.
Each youth must commit to attending at least 8 of the Thursday night Toonies throughout the Toonie season to positively represent WORCA and ZEP Racing in these community events. Toonies will be restructured this year to better engage all riders, with multiple race and ride formats rather than the traditional point-to-point XC style race. This will be a fun point of engagement for the youth.
Coaching sessions will be two days per week by PMBIA qualified coaches from the ZEP Racing staff team, with a focus on Enduro riding and racing. Coaching will largely be on advanced single-track trails in the Whistler Valley, but will also include Bike Park and Pump Track sessions. If you can ride it on two wheels, the kids will be there!
Coaching will be after school during the school year and mid-day during summer holiday, with summer being full days of riding and/or mid-day ride followed by evening Bike Park session. Programming will also cover suspension set up, bike set up, and maintenance to keep gear top notch from our supporting shops - Evolution and Coastal Culture.
Programming also includes pre-season spin classes (8 sessions) and personal training (2 sessions), sponsored by Core Gym in Whistler. This includes personal goal-setting, evaluation, and a customized fitness program from Multi-Sport Athlete John Block.
Video Edits will be designed, produced filmed and edited as a team, building the kids knowledge and skills required for todays online, media savvy world.
ZEP Coaches always maximize sessions for safety, risk management and skill progression, so the kids can build the skills without the spills.

Just a quick not to say thanks to the ZEP crew for an awesome two weeks. Not only have they made my first trip to whistler a comfortable one, but also they organized the extra accommodation I needed. I did the 2 week camp and as a rider, I’ve progressed so much more in those two weeks than I ever have. Along with new mountain biking skills they have also refined my existing riding skills. Paul and Ross's mountain biking knowledge and expertise are second to none and it shows through the students improved riding.Phillip Vorburger
